I’ve worked with the Character Portrait project before, but this was different. We were outside. Lighting, sound, and power are always different when you are outside. We had to make sure we filmed the whole thing before the sun changed too much. We recorded the guitar and mic both straight into the Zoom H5, then sent the tracks off to Matthew Tuckey to mix and master.

Capturing Christian large events is one of the things I do regularly. I have been to venues all over the country, with all different streams of Churches, but this was right at home in Manchester.
We’re a relational network committed to connecting, inspiring and equipping churches in the UK and globally. We want to play our part in the re-evangelisation of the nations, planting churches, equipping existing churches, and training and releasing leaders
The conference was a few hundred church leaders from around the UK and world. They have an annual conference for leaders, and they host this in the North and South of the country on alternating years.
Photograph the event. I had my GH5 with me, and I captured a range of key moments throughout the conference. You can see a quick selection below —
A quick walk around Mirlees fields, behind our house when Fiona turned up.

This was so much fun cause I was working with a number of other creative people to make a project come together.
The vision of the whole thing was James — https://www.facebook.com/characterportrait/
The branding was Dave Perkins, who just isn’t on the internet, but you can email him I guess …
And I think a friend of James’ mixed the sound, Matthew Tuckey
And so the Video…

The video is the first of four, I wasn’t involved in the others, although I did have a hand in the review and design of the filming of them. You’ll find them on the YouTube or Facebook pages for character Portrait.
The event was in Ealing, London, with a few hundred people of 3 days. It was already being live streamed by Word Out Media, but I came in to photograph the event and capture it from another perspective away from the demands of streaming. Traveling with the GH5, a gimbal, and the Fuji Xpro2 for stills, I captured the event, editing the photos as I went so David + Kingdom Encounter could keep their social media updated after each meeting.
After the event, I put together a highlights film, alongside a 60-second version for Instagram. I used the Live Stream for the stage stuff hence the quality difference. [it took me about 4 hours to make both versions]

So great to have started working with the Nazarene Theological College Manchester, who are linked with the University of Manchester. Based in the leafy Didsbury of south Manchester, it’s such a great spot to film in. Their graduation takes place yearly with the ceremony at the Whitworth hall in Manchester, and then celebrations back at their campus. I came and filmed the event creating a highlights film from the event along with a full run through of the ceremony for people to rewatch! You can see the highlights below…

Glouster for 48 hours, for a small gathering in the trees, with evangelism and worship? Sure. Here is the highlights I filmed for the trip!
